Lightfoot and Wolfville Vibes
We spent an absolutely beautiful May Day at Lightfoot and Wolfville, one of our favourite wineries EVER.
Driving up to the front door, you are greeted with enormously high ceilings, simplicity and a gorgeous fireplace that guides you the the tasting room on the left and the patio on the right.
We were seated promptly and our server Marina was with us in seconds, letting us know the specials of the day and answering any questions we had. We started off the with Blanc de Blanc, a beautiful white sparkling wine that surprisingly quenched your thirst. The bubbles were light and the aromas were stunning.
We decided on their brown bread with sea salt and butter to begin. The bread was sweet, I would compare it almost to a molasses bread. It was very fluffy, soft and the crust was delicious. Marina told us about the previous chef who made sea salt and how the sea salt was local - just from down the street! We love hearing these stories.
Our main course was, of course, a pizza baked in their wood fired oven. We chose the sausage and pepper pizza with half no cheese and they accommodated the allergy well. The pizza was very light as well and paired great with the sparkling wine. The sauce was delicious, filled with flavour and each bite was better than the next. We also accompanied the pizza with a glass of their rose and a beer from Tatamagouche brewery. Both went superb together.
We then decided on the chocolate custard dessert and to our surprise it was very uniform in texture, thick and had an amazing dark chocolate taste to it. The sea salt was such a great touch as well.
Lightfoot and Wolfville feels like another universe. You’re surrounded with people who enjoy the same things.. many taking photos of their delicious food and extraordinary glasses of wine. The service was top notch. A huge shout out to our server Marina who made it seem like Lightfoot and Wolfville was our home, as well as hers for the summer. Also a shout out to Rachel who had an amazing hand in helping set up a reservation... sometimes reservations can be confusing.
All in all, this winery is all about the experience. It’s more than the wine. From the moment you walk into their doors to the moment you leave - you will be left in awe. You will have a blast playing washer toss, enjoy a tasting or fall in love with the views while eating delicious pizza. This place is drenched in romance with a touch of magic.
